Recognized for more than 45 years of experience as a talented engineer, Mr. Hartman has distinguished himself in recent years as a part-time project management consultant on behalf of a company specializing in dewatering systems. Now retired, he has worked in various mechanical engineering roles throughout the course of his career, including at ITH Bolting Technology, Rocky Mountain Fabrication Inc., Thomas Whitehouse and Associates, the Mark Steel Corporation, and Morgan Power Apparatus, going back as far as 1975. Drawing consistent motivation from his personal motto, “Just keep working the hardest you can,” Ms. Hartman largely credits his success to the influence of his parents, who instilled in him a diligent work ethic and an appreciation for welding and machinery.
Mr. Hartman initially studied mechanical engineering at the University of Utah, from which he received a Bachelor of Science in 1975. Throughout the course of his subsequent career, he is most proud to have contributed his expertise to the construction of the Channel Tunnel, which spans the English Channel between the United Kingdom and France. Out of several proposed machines to aid in boring tunnels, the Mobile Miner MM 130R he helped design was chosen, which afforded him the opportunity to travel to Japan and work with a team of talented engineers and drafters to bring the design to fruition within a year. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hartman aspires to continue engaging in contract work for as long as he is able.
