Dr. Maria Carolina Jaime, PhD, PE, geotechnical engineer at GameChange Solar, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil engineering.
With nearly two decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Jaime has excelled as the senior geotechnical engineer at GameChange Solar since early in 2023. Prior to this appointment, she served as a geotechnical engineer at several companies and organizations since 2016. She began her career as an engineer at Ingetec S.A. in her native home of Bogota, Colombia. Throughout her extensive and ambitious career, she has performed as a design engineer, researcher, university professor, project consultant, and technical mentor. Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Jaime was active on the Board of Directors for the Geo-Institute Pittsburg Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and is a member of the Deep Foundations Institute.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Jaime pursued an education at the Universidad de Los Andes Colombia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 2002. She subsequently attained her Master of Science in civil and geotechnical engineering in 2003, before immigrating to the United States and completing her doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011. Her certifications include underground new coal miner from the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training, certified drilling inspector from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and professional engineer from the Maryland Board of Professional Engineers. Additionally, she received her Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher certification from South Hills Power Yoga in 2015. Dr. Jaime received multiple awards and honors as a student for contributions to her department, and in 2015 was the first author on the highly respected International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences article “Finite Element Modeling of Rock Cutting and its Fragmentation Process.”
Dr. Jaime is driven to solve human needs through her work in energy-related industries. She attributes her success to her persistence, her background as an immigrant from Colombia, and being a single mother. In the coming years, Dr. Jaime intends to share her expertise and participate in establishing regulations in her field while contributing to the growth of GameChange Solar in her current capacity.
