Gilbert “Gil” Jimenez Valverde, Site Leader and Research and Development Director with Endologix LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical device manufacture and design.
Since 2022, Mr. Jimenez has excelled as a site leader and research and development director with Endologix LLC. With specific expertise in the manufacture, design and implementation of medical devices, he is responsible for information gathering, preparing technical documents, mobilizing assets and creating priorities for submitting documentation to regulatory authorities. Now boasting more than two decades of experience in his field, Mr. Jimenez chose his profession because of his background in materials science. He saw his current field as an opportunity to participate in scientific advancement while adding value to society and helping those in need.
Among his accomplishments, Mr. Jimenez is proudest of his role in developing percutaneous transluminal arterial bypass, or PTAB, a technology that helps patients with blood flow disorders and diseases including diabetes avoid amputation. He is also especially proud of developing high-pressure balloon technology, which is used to open access for continuous dialysis intervention. This technology allows patients to be treated by reopening the same channels, avoiding unnecessary harm and pain.
Mr. Jimenez prepared for his career at the Technologic Institute of Costa Rica, graduating in 2008 with a degree in science and materials engineering. Alongside his formal degree, he earned his Six Sigma Black Belt Certification with Confluent Medical Technologies in 2019. In 2018, Mr. Jimenez completed certification in Giving Your Elevator Pitch through LinkedIn.
Prior to his current role with Endologix LLC, Mr. Jimenez worked for Confluent Medical Technologies from 2016 to 2022. Working with Confluent Medical Technologies, he was a research and development manager from 2014 to 2016 and a senior manufacturing engineer from 2011 to 2014. Mr. Jimenez began his career as an engineer with MedTech from 2005 to 2006, after which he garnered experience as a senior packaging engineer with Unilever from 2006 to 2008. He went on to serve as a senior manufacturing engineer at the ArthroCare Corporation from 2008 to 2011 and as a professor at the Latin American University of Science and Technology from 2011 to 2013.
Mr. Jimenez attributes his success to the support of his mentor. He also credits his hard work, hunger for success, and commitment to working on important and relevant projects. In the future, Mr. Jimenez aims to open his own firm and spend more time researching areas he cares about, including peripheral artery disease.
