With 25 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Oh Orr has excelled as senior staff engineer at STMicroelectronics since 2019. He began his career as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow at Kyushu University from 1998 to 1999. He worked as a senior process engineer at SK Hynix from 1999 to 2002. He found success as a NEDO research fellow at the New Energy Development Organization from 2002 to 2003 and subsequently as a senior engineer at Sony Semiconductor Kyushu from 2003 to 2005. He garnered a stellar reputation as principal engineer SAMSUNG from 2005 to 2016 and as director at Duksan Hi-Metal from 2016 to 2018.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Oh Orr pursued an education at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology where she earned a bachelor of science in 1992 and a PhD in electrochemistry, materials science and engineering. He possesses a deep knowledge of lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors, vacuum insulation panels, film deposition in semiconductors, and copper depositions for through-via filling of three dimensional packaging. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with SAMSUNG’s Outstanding Engineer Award.
Dr. Oh Orr attributes his success to his passion for his profession. He’s enjoyed physics and engineering since he was young. His practical creativity has played a key role in advancing new technology, particularly in developing a face identification device and a 3D sensing imaging device. He possesses expertise in an extensive array of specializations, including semiconductors, thin films, cross-functional team leadership, nanotechnology, product development, three-dimensional chip stacking, CELL processor packaging, corrosion engineering, electrochemistry, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, and more.
Dr. Oh Orr attributes his success to his passion for his profession. One of his most notable career achievements was his contribution to finalizing the PlayStation 3 when he worked at Sony. Additionally, during his 12 years at SAMSUNG, he continued several products and transferred to production, making critical contributions to a product called the Vacuum Insulation Panel, which was used in the SAMSUNG refrigerator for installation. In the immediate future, he aims to contribute to his company by creating profitable products and to focus more on his field.
