Leveraging more than 15 years of experience in his chosen profession, Mr. Del Real has found success as a power equipment engineer at the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), which serves the energy needs of customers throughout northern Indiana in the areas of natural gas and electrical distribution. Specializing in operations and process flow, Mr. Del Real has maintained responsibility for the design, installation and maintenance of high-voltage power equipment since 2016.
Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Del Real initially became involved in his profession at the age of 14. Having always enjoyed working with his hands, he assisted his father in building things, and eventually branched out to jobs at hardware stores. He went on to work as an independent contractor at Community High School District 155 from 2007 to 2010, and, concurrently, in retail sales at AutoZone between 2009 and 2011. Mr. Del Real proceeded to The Pep Boys, for which he was a commercial salesman from 2011 until 2013, and Linde plc, where he was an instrumentation and electrical technician from 2013 to 2016.
Mr. Del Real first sought an education at Purdue University Northwest, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering technology. Well-qualified in his field, he is also a certified thermographer.
Though his professional journey has been filled with many memorable moments, Mr. Del Real is especially proud to have reached a place where he can actually see and feel the difference he has made in the lives of others. In accounting for his success, he largely credits the values instilled in him by his parents. From a young age, his father taught him that the reality of life is that he is going to have to spend much of his time working – therefore, he must find something he is passionate about. Looking toward the future, Mr. Del Real’s biggest goal is to obtain his license as a professional engineer. With so many uncertainties in life, the reassurance and integrity that comes with an official license has always been a source of comfort.
