Shyam P. Keshavmurthy, PhD, Senior Application Engineer at MathWorks, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in systems engineering.
With more than 35 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Keshavmurthy has excelled as a managing partner for Demya Consulting LLC since 2018 and a senior application engineer for MathWorks since 2019. Prior to these positions, he was active with Perceptron as a senior systems engineer from 1998 to 2001, a sensor and system architect from 2003 to 2006, a product manager for sensors from 2006 to 2009, and a chief engineer from 2009 to 2018. Between 2001 and 2003, he served as the director of development of Solidica Inc. Dr. Keshavmurthy began his career as a senior engineer with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. from 1986 to 1992 before refining his skills as a post-doctoral research fellow in diagnostic radiology at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1996 to 1998.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Keshavmurthy pursued an education at the University of Mysore in India, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He concluded his academic efforts by graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in nuclear and radiological engineering and computer science at the University of Florida in 1996. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Keshavmurthy completed an MIT-Sloan Executive Education Program titled “Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy” in 2018 and earned a graduate certification from the Harvard Business Analytics Program in 2020.
Beyond his primary responsibilities within the field, Dr. Keshavmurthy has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. A past member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), he continues to contribute to his industry as a member of the American Nuclear Society. Likewise, Dr. Keshavmurthy accrued various United States-based patents within his areas of expertise, including “System and Method for Detecting Defects in a Surface of a Workpiece” in 2001, “Method and Materials to Inhibit Object Consolidation in Localized Areas” in 2007, “Non-contact Sensing System Having MEMS-based Light Source” in 2012, “System and Method for Dynamic Windowing” in 2012 and “Hybrid System” in 2015.
Dr. Keshavmurthy attributed his success to the guidance of his parents and mentors, which encouraged and motivated him to become a lifelong learner. Renowned among his peers as an experienced artificial intelligence technology advisor and business data analyst, he notably leads innovation in engineering in his present positions, including digitally transforming manufacturing systems with the help of artificial intelligence. Among his many notable achievements, he is incredibly proud of inventing the Helix Platform in 2004, which has revolutionized the way plant flow has been measured in the automotive industry utilizing 3D measurement technology. Looking toward the future, Dr. Keshavmurthy aims to transform his graduate school ideas into real products or applications.
