Bill Palo, consulting engineer at Palo, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemical engineering.

With 48 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Palo has excelled as owner and consulting engineer at Palo, LLC since 2001. His area of expertise is nuclear power plant design. He began his career working for Combustion Engineering, Inc. (CE) in 1976. He continued with them through 1989, with a two-year interim hiatus performing chemical plant design for Herzog Hart Corp. Between 1989 and 1998, Mr. Palo supported the Palo Verde Generating Station in the Phoenix area with APS for two years, and then returned to CE in their site office. He was contracted through various shops between 1998 and 2001.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Palo graduated from William E. Tolman Senior High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He pursued an education in the acclaimed Chemical Engineering program at the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1976. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He was the leader of “A Touch of Chicago,” a nationally recognized Polish polka band, as a proficient saxophone, clarinet, trumpet player and vocalist.

Mr. Palo considers his contribution to a decade-long project undertaken in 1998 at Palo Verde, which replaced large Steam Generators and uprate plant power in the three PVGS units. The project accomplished a significant thermal power increase of 114 MWT for each PVGS unit. He assumed responsibility for formulating a comprehensive design package that addressed all essential modifications necessary for the successful completion of the project. Mr. Palo provided oversight of the design and restart testing of critical systems across the entire plant.

Mr. Palo attributes his perseverance and ability to rebound from disappointments as instrumental to his success. His technical skills and talent for client relations have garnered him a stellar reputation as he diligently strives to comprehend their needs and consistently delivers high-quality products. His brother-in-law, Edward Smith, was a chemical engineer and inspired Mr. Palo to get into the field. In the immediate future, he intends to continue at Palo, LLC on a part-time basis for a few more years before retiring. Once retired, he plans to resume prioritizing time for his hobbies and taking road trips throughout the United States.
