With over two decades of experience in civil engineering and project management, Mr. Laird has established himself as a seasoned leader in the field. Currently serving as the senior client engagement manager at GAI Consultants Inc., he brings a wealth of expertise in managing complex projects and fostering client relationships. Prior to his current role, he held key positions such as market leader in the public sector at Bowman Consulting from 2023 to 2024, and associate vice president and director of client relations at Michael Baker International from 2022 to 2023.
Mr. Laird’s career journey began as a CAD operator, and he quickly advanced through various roles, including senior highway designer at URS Corporation, now AECOM, from 2012 to 2014, and director of business development at Hill International, Inc. from 2019 to 2021. His dedication to continuous learning led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Point Park University in 2012, complemented by an associate’s degree in CAD from the Community College of Allegheny County in 1998. In addition to his academic achievements, Mr. Laird holds a project management professional (PMP)® certification from Augusta University, acquired in 2018.
Throughout his career, Mr. Laird has been actively involved in professional and civic organizations, serving as the president of ASHE Pittsburgh in 2024 and the past chairman of the Construction Legislative Council of Western Pennsylvania in 2019. He is also a member of several prestigious associations, including the American Society of Highway Engineers, Construction Management Association of America, and Project Management Institute, Inc. Mr. Laird’s commitment to excellence and dedication to his profession have been recognized through numerous awards, including the President’s Gavel and President’s Award from ASHE Pittsburgh. Looking ahead, he plans to continue his professional growth at GAI Consultants Inc., while also contributing to the development of future leaders in the industry.
