Title: Head of New York Healthcare Group
Company: Syska Hennessy Group
Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States
Timothy Krawetz, head of New York Healthcare Group at Syska Hennessy Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care design.
Backed by years of experience in healthcare and green building design, Mr. Krawetz leads the Healthcare practice area and co-leads the Science + Technology practice area for Syska Hennessy Group, an international consulting engineering firm, where he retains the title of Senior Principal. As a result of his responsibilities, he works in close coordination with the firms’ New York, NJ, DC, Richmond, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, San Diego and Shanghai offices.
Mr. Krawetz is a two-time American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Diamond Award winner, the highest honour that can be awarded for innovative and impactful engineering design to a project. One of the two awards was for his design work on the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro replacement hospital, a 235 bed facility. The other award was in creating the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, also known as the Wild Center, which includes a room which exhibits all 4 seasons of weather found in that environment. The exhibits include an indoor trout stream and otter falls. Other awards include an ACEC Platinum Award for the design of ICU level Covid beds for North Central Bronx Hospital, an ACEC Gold Award for Danbury Hospital and an ENR Award of Merit for campus rehabilitation work at Mount Sinai’s St. Lukes Hospital.
A 1986 graduate from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Krawetz began his career at Edward &Zuck, P.C. where he attained the title of Associate. He then attained the title of Senior Associate at Meyer, Strong and Jones, P.C. and partner at Caretsky & Associates. Subsequently, Mr. Krawetz also became a licensed professional engineer and a LEED accredited professional. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Krawetz is a member of the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE). All of the above was accomplished through a combination of hard work and fear of being called out as a fraud.
Mr. Krawetz is currently mentoring the next generation of healthcare engineers within the firm, in part to allow them the opportunity to grow their own career and to pass the torch. Beyond his professional career, he served as an assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts of America. The highlight of that experience included leading a group of scouts on a 12 day, 87 mile back country hiking and camping trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Included within that group of scouts were both of his sons, Tom and Eric.
