With a career that has evolved over the past 15 years, Mr. Kondoju currently serves as the engineering leader at Credit Karma, a position he has held since 2017. Additionally, he has offered mentorship through Plato, an engineering conference, since 2021. Before joining Credit Karma, Mr. Kondoju built up his credentials as a full-stack software engineer at Wayfair. He shared his knowledge of the field as a teaching assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas for two years. Prior to immigrating to the United States from India, Mr. Kondoju gained foundational experience as a software engineer at Teradata Aster from 2012 to 2014 and as a subject matter expert at Amdocs Development Centre India Private Ltd. from 2008 to 2012.
In his role at Credit Karma, Mr. Kondoju oversees the application process, aiming to make it as smooth as possible for users. He holds regular architectural and code reviews with his team, heads meetings, and facilitates onboarding for new hires and corporate partners. Mr. Kondoju takes pride in having successfully implemented two of the company’s biggest partnerships with Capital One and Discover. Moreover, he helped develop the new “progressive deployments” system, which all of the organization’s services have migrated to under his supervision.
A strong academic background provides the foundation for Mr. Kondoju’s success. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the Indian Institute of Information Technology in 2008. Subsequently, Mr. Kondoju earned a Master of Science in computer science with a specialization in data science from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2016. He maintains membership in the Association for Computing Machinery as part of his commitment to staying updated on the latest trends.
Mr. Kondoju’s accomplishments have been recognized with numerous accolades across his career. He has received multiple Exceptional Impact Awards from Credit Karma since 2019 and was presented with the Pratibha Award from the government of India in 2004. Mr. Kondoju credits his success to talented co-workers who challenge and motivate him while remaining kind. He prioritizes empathy toward others in all of his interactions and is thankful for the empathy he has received from his colleagues and mentors. Mr. Kondoju is devoted to continuous learning and exploration of new technologies, which has uniquely positioned him as a leader in software engineering. He also expresses gratitude for being able to fulfill his longtime dream of working in the technology sector in the United States.
Outside of his career, Mr. Kondoju is a devoted husband who enjoys advising startups, learning about technological advancements, and encouraging students to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Looking to the future, he is focused on following the rapid changes being seen in technology. In particular, Mr. Kondoju hopes to become a leader in artificial intelligence and is considering launching his own company focused on that area. He is excited that his work at Credit Karma impacts millions of lives and intends to carry that trend forward for the entirety of his professional life.
