He was a software engineer at VanderHouwen from 2016 to 2017, a software developer with Prosper I.T. Consulting in 2016, and held roles in fraud detection at Capital One from 2014 to 2015. His medical career includes positions as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida from 2006 to 2010, chief of the surgical inpatient care section at the Department of Veterans Affairs from 2005 to 2010, and director of the surgical intensive care unit from 2005 to 2010. He was a physician at Pulmonary Physicians of South Florida from 2003 to 2005, an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota from 2002 to 2003, a physician with HealthPartners from 2002 to 2003, a faculty physician and assistant professor at the University of Miami from 2001 to 2002, and an operating room assistant at St. Vincent Hospital from 1989 to 1993.

Dr. Carter laid a solid foundation for his future success by pursuing coursework at the University of Washington in 1986, at only 14 years old. He continued his academic efforts at Lewis & Clark College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in French and natural sciences in 1989, and concluded his studies with a Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University, graduating cum laude in 1995. Following these accomplishments, he completed coursework in computer software engineering at The Tech Academy in 2016. In addition to his degrees, he has earned numerous certifications, including various LinkedIn courses in Linux Shell Scripting, JavaScript, C#, Test Driven Development, Java, Azure Development, and Webpack. He also holds multiple Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Specialist, and Microsoft Technology Associate. 

One of Dr. Carter’s most significant achievements was serving as the director of the surgical intensive care unit with Veterans Affairs, where he established a Rapid Response Team, which required extensive cross-departmental coordination. The Rapid Response team has been utilized to effectively assess and stabilize patients, which led to improved patient outcomes and reduced stress on the nursing team. He attributes his success to his interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and professional approach. In the coming years, he plans to continue his technical growth in computer science with the goal of becoming a lead engineer. Drawing from his medical background, he also aspires to ascend to leadership roles where he can influence organizational strategies and contribute to shaping the company’s technological direction on a larger scale.
