Wayne Patrick Mitchell

Title: Executive Vice President
Company: GEOTEC GLOBAL SOLUTIONS SL
Location: Spring, Texas, United States

Wayne Patrick Mitchell, executive vice president at GEOTEC GLOBAL SOLUTIONS SL, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering technology.

With over four and a half decades of experience, Mr. Mitchell has built a successful career in engineering, specializing in production enhancement technology, production technology, completion technology, and field management. Since 2017, he has been the founder of Kaizo Energy Solutions and co-founder and executive vice president of GEOTEC GLOBAL SOLUTIONS SL, where he is responsible for seeking out new clients and negotiating contracts. His experience also includes serving as well completions manager at Technical Experts Group, Rosneft from 2017 to 2019, and as completion superintendent for the Cardon IV Gas Project at Repsol from 2015 to 2016. He was the technology manager for the Petrocarabobo Heavy Oil Project at Repsol from 2013 to 2015 and the well technology and geomechanics theme manager at Repsol from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, he worked as a petroleum engineering specialist and production engineering consultant at China National Offshore Oil Corp. from 2001 to 2011, operations manager at Halliburton from 1997 to 2001, and co-founder and managing director of Hydraulic Workover Services Ltd. from 1992 to 1997. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from The University of Tulsa in 1978.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Mitchell co-founded GEOTEC GLOBAL SOLUTIONS SL with the director of an oil and gas research center where he previously worked. His passion for the oil industry was sparked at a young age while growing up near the Texaco Refinery in Trinidad, one of the largest in the world at the time. The proximity to the refinery ignited his fascination with the oil industry. Unlike most of his high school peers who pursued fields such as engineering, medicine, and structural sciences, he was drawn to the oil industry. Additionally, his career has spanned several decades and multiple countries. After leaving Canada around 1998, he spent approximately 14 years in Jakarta, first with Halliburton Energy Services and later with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). After leaving CNOOC at the end of 2011, he joined Repsol in Spain and subsequently moved to Venezuela, where he remained until 2019.

Mr. Mitchell takes great pride in his achievement in 2002 when, while working for CNOOC in Jakarta, he led a well-construction team to install the world’s first level six multilateral intelligent completion in collaboration with Schlumberger. This pioneering work earned them the World Oil Completion of the Year award. He attributes his success to his commitment to honesty with clients, even in challenging situations. For instance, while owning a drilling company with three rigs, he faced the unfortunate responsibility of informing both the families of victims and the contracting company after experiencing fatalities. He underscores the importance of honesty, transparency, and adhering to all procedures and specifications. Additionally, he learned from a division engineer in his early career the value of admitting “I don’t know” rather than making excuses.

In the coming years, Mr. Mitchell plans to expand his company by introducing new business segments. Beyond its traditional focus on wood and geoscience studies, the company will now offer lab consulting services. Additionally, new segments will be added, including mergers and acquisitions trading, product trading, and oil storage facilities. His goal is to integrate these segments into the company’s portfolio successfully. He also aims to establish a strong presence in Texas with his newly founded company, Kaizo Energy Solutions, named in honor of his grandchildren. His immediate focus is exploring opportunities in global mergers and acquisitions within the energy sector and expanding into downstream petroleum products. This strategic shift from his extensive experience in upstream operations seeks to diversify and broaden the company’s scope in the energy market. His long-term vision is to position Kaizo Energy Solutions as a prominent player in the downstream sector.
