Title: Staff Engineer
Company: DexCare
Location: Longmont, Colorado, United States
David Robertus, staff engineer at DexCare, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information technology.
With nearly three decades of experience, Mr. Robertus has established a successful career in information technology, specializing in automated quality testing, software development engineering, and enterprise solution design. Since 2023, he has served as a staff engineer at DexCare, where he drives innovation by identifying gaps and developing strategies for improvement, taking on managerial responsibilities and guiding team members’ professional growth. His previous experience includes roles such as director of quality engineering at Shutterstock in 2022, SDET II-III at Shutterstock from 2015 to 2020, senior SDET at ReadyTalk from 2013 to 2015, and senior QA automation engineer at Tendril in 2012. He has also held senior software engineering positions at McKesson Provider Technologies, Comcast, Access Data Consulting Corporation, Qwest Communications, and DigitalGlobe from 2007 to 2012. He has also participated in the Scala Focus Group at ReadyTalk in 2014, contributed to the voter registration and vote tabulation systems, and received a recognition award at DexCare. Early on in his career, he owned and operated Local Pipewriter Repair and Cleaning.
Mr. Robertus laid a solid educational foundation with a Bachelor of Arts in geography and economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. Initially starting his career in mechanical engineering, he discovered a passion for geography during a course, prompting him to pursue a major in geography with a minor in economics. After graduation, he joined an engineering company specializing in GIS geospatial work, where his background in software and expanding skill set opened doors to broader opportunities in the geospatial field. He takes pride in developing the 911 service for voice-over IP technology in Longmont, launched around 2004, a project that was critical in handling nearly all 911 calls for voice-over IP and supporting about 80% of cell phone 911 calls at the time.
Mr. Robertus attributes his success to his traditional background, which he believes has given him a unique mental toolkit. Unlike those with formal degrees in software engineering or computer science, his approach to problem-solving is distinct, enabling him to devise creative and innovative solutions. Looking to the future, he intends to stay true to his passion for mentoring and offering guidance, focusing on individual contributions rather than pursuing management roles. His goal is to position himself as a strategic advisor, potentially serving on a board, where his perspective and experience can provide valuable insights. He envisions a role where he can support companies by helping them navigate challenges and fostering growth.
