Mr. Rhodes is an expert in cybersecurity and cyber research, employed by Open Systems Technologies Corporation as an information system security engineer since 2023. To ensure all assigned systems meet security requirements to receive the authority to operate, he must conduct security vulnerability research. Additionally, he must document security controls to ensure their continuous operation and create system documentation by developing business impact analysis statements, incident response and security plans, as well as continuity of operations strategies.
Before being named to his position, Mr. Rhodes served as a cybersecurity researcher at Stephenson Technologies Corporation from 2021 to 2023, as a senior cybersecurity engineer at Northrop Grumman & Peraton between 2020 and 2021, and as a senior cybersecurity engineer and information systems security officer at Lockheed Martin from 2019 to 2020. He began his tenure in this sector in 2018 with Information Technology Engineering Corporation as a senior cybersecurity specialist.
Leveraging his success and tenure in the military, Mr. Rhodes served in the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2019, enlisting as a private, E-1, and retiring as an assistant special agent in charge and digital forensic examiner. While serving his country, he garnered an Associate of Arts in Russian language from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in 2001. He also received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in cybersecurity from Excelsior University in 2017 and 2021, respectively.
In addition to his degrees, Mr. Rhodes has accumulated numerous professional credentials, including certifications from Microsoft, Security+, and CompTIA. He also received certification as an information system security professional through the International Information System Security Certification Consortium and was designated as a certified vehicle system forensic examiner by Berla Corporation.
Active in his professional community, Mr. Rhodes has been affiliated as a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and the High Technology Crime Investigation Association. Through his community, he has been involved as a youth and community engagement director for the Whole Cyber Human Initiative and as a mentor for VetsinTech.
Throughout his career in the field, Mr. Rhodes is most proud of his contributions to cybersecurity. His project involving manually reversing engineering satellite commanding and telemetry was particularly notable, as it was utilized to create signatures for monitoring network traffic and preventing unauthorized satellite access.
Honoring his many career accomplishments, Mr. Rhodes received a Technical Innovation Award from Lockheed Martin in 2020. He also received an Excellence in Public Service Award for Military Service from the Federal Executive Association of El Paso in 2014. Recognizing his military service, Mr. Rhodes was decorated with a U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and, among others, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Crediting much of his success to the guidance and support of his parents while coming of age, Mr. Rhodes learned essential values that have carried him throughout his adult life. Additionally, being a parent has kept him motivated and determined to exceed, recognizing the importance of setting a positive example for his children.
