William Paxton Witt IV, Principle QA Automation Engineer at Sparq, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Engineering.
Mr. Witt is distinguished for his success and longevity in engineering. Since 2023, he has been affiliated with Sparq as a principle QA automation engineer, involved in manual and automated tests and other technical work. Based in Atlanta, Sparq is recognized as a leading engineering consultancy known for building, deploying and supporting digital applications, products and experiences. Mr. Witt’s role comes after a tenure in the industry spanning over 20 years.
Beginning his career in 2001, Mr. Witt was a student server at Brigham Young University while pursuing his undergraduate degree. He later joined Homenet Communications as a QA network engineer from 2004 to 2005. Acquired by AccessData, he served as a QA software engineer until 2007. Over the next decade, Mr. Witt garnered numerous progressive roles, including as a QA automation engineer II at SelectHealth and as a quality assurance manager and quality assurance engineer II for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Subsequently, he became a performance test manager at Nu Skin Enterprises and a senior QA automation engineer at TestOutCorporation and Software Technology Corporation.
From 2019 to 2020, Mr. Witt excelled as a senior QA engineer for Alianza Inc. He then pivoted to work for Software Technology Group as a senior SDET, a role he manages while simultaneously working at Sparq. Mr. Witt’s expertise in test automation has been critical to his success in the industry.
In preparation for his career in this sector, Mr. Witt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electronics and information technology from Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho, in 2004. He also received STG Cypress.io automation certification through the Software Technology Group in 2023, making him highly qualified in his field.
Active in the professional industry, Mr. Witt is a member of the Ministry of Testing and QA at the Point. Civically, he was involved with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a full-time missionary in the late 1990s, was an assistant youth football coach between 2012 and 2015, and was an assistant scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America from 2015 to 2016.
Throughout his career, Mr. Witt is proud of his success in setting up the QA department at the missionary training center and for his ability to develop leading teams. He attributes his accomplishments to his persistence and opportunities, his ability to learn and champion automation, and his desire to network with other professionals in the industry. Moreover, Mr. Witt recognizes the constant evolution of the field, which has kept his interest and has prevented him from feeling confined to a particular role. The flexibility and variety will continue to challenge him for years to come.
As he prepares for future success, Mr. Witt envisions implementing artificial intelligence (AI) into test automation. Although he was given several chances to do so, most of his clients gave strong security standards and are not as eager to begin implementing the AI software. He is also enthusiastic about training additional individuals in the industry. Moreover, Mr. Witt has plans to continue consulting unless he is offered a more attractive, permanent role that aligns with his career goals.
