Chad Humphrey, Director of Continuous Improvement at Petmate, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Lean Manufacturing.
Mr. Humphrey, an established expert in lean manufacturing for over a decade, has been dedicated to his leading role as the director of continuous improvement at Petmate, which specializes in manufacturing high-quality pet products, accessories, supplies and brands. Acquired in 2023, he focuses on establishing lean practices at the plant while providing his management expertise to ensure stability. Mr. Humphrey’s expertise in new product development, project management, engineering and other areas of the business have been instrumental in his success.
Aside from his contributions to Petmate, Mr. Humphrey has owned OpEx Business Solutions LLC since 2020. Having garnered over 25 years of previous experience, he began his career as a mechanical engineer with BouMatic in 1994. He also held various engineering roles with Kohler Company, Harley-Davidson and Apex Tool Group LLC. While employed at Harley-Davidson, he developed and created the first electronic fuel injection motorcycle for the entry-level market. While at Apex Took Group LLC, he was instrumental in implementing value analysis value engineering as a tool within lean and establishing the department and structure for that role.
Highly educated, Mr. Humphrey received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1996 and a Master of Engineering Management in 2004 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He remains affiliated with the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors, which enables him to collaborate with like-minded individuals. Grateful for his success, much of which he attributes to having good mentors, Mr. Humphrey also notes the work ethic he earned while coming of age on a dairy farm. Eager for the future of his career with Petmate, his goal is to continue guiding the organization by implementing lean practices.
