Since 2022, he has been serving as the director of nodal market analysis at NextEra Energy Resources LLC in Florida, where he has been instrumental in building and managing the company’s assets, building development group build pipelines, and supporting portfolio operations while focusing on driving the progress of renewable energy initiatives. Previously, Dr. Bhuiyan served as the company’s nodal market analysis manager from 2018 to 2022. He also worked for several other leading organizations, including Filsinger Energy Partners, Southern Power and Talen Energy, in various capacities, dating back to 2000 when he first joined Mirant as a power market analyst. Additionally, Dr. Bhuiyan taught at his alma mater, BUET, as a faculty member between 1986 and 1998.
Possessing a rich educational background, Dr. Bhuiyan received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a Master of Science in electrical and electronic engineering from BUET in 1986 and 1988, respectively. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering, power system planning and reliability from the University of Manchester in 1993. Dr. Bhuiyan is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and frequently volunteers with charitable organizations in the U.S. and Bangladesh in his free time.
Dr. Bhuiyan’s expertise in power market analysis, system electrical engineering, inner transmission conditions, and other areas of his field has been pivotal to his success.
