Donovan Brown, technical mentor and founder of Code Connect Mentoring, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Information Technology and consulting services.
Mr. Brown, an established professional in the information technology sector, is the founder and technical mentor at Code Connect Mentoring in Harper Woods, Michigan, a company he launched in 2024 to assist those interested in careers in web development and programming. As part of his services, he prepares individuals for interviews, provides resume and LinkedIn guidance, and more. Leveraging his former success, Mr. Brown worked for several prominent organizations throughout his career, beginning with Hewlett Packard in 2010 as a help desk analyst. Over the years, he continually excelled, earning positions with companies like Detroit Medical Center as a field service technician, Continental Structural Plastics as a manufacturing systems developer, and Detroit Labs as an onsite software developer. Just before the launch of Code Connect Mentoring, he excelled as a UI developer at CQL, a full-service digital commerce agency in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from 2022 to 2024.
A self-taught web developer and certified CompTIA A+ computer support technician, Mr. Brown has garnered numerous other credentials from Golightly Career Institute, Free Code Camp, and Grand Circus, among other organizations, making him highly qualified. Intrigued by computers since his youth, he was an avid gamer who quickly developed a passion for technology. While still in high school, he enrolled in Kaplan Career Institute, where he studied to become a computer support technician. Years later, Mr. Brown pivoted to pursue web development.
Besides his work-related endeavors, Mr. Brown has been fully committed to giving back to the community through his contributions to Detroit Black Tech since 2017 and Black Tech Saturdays since 2023, where he has also served as a conference speaker at its Digital Empowerment Summit. Earlier, he was the lead Instructor for 100 Black Men of America Inc. and was affiliated with Girl Develop It. Among other involvement, he was active on DSDT’s developer program board committee and an instructor and mentor for the Detroit School of Business and Technology. Recognizing his contributions, Mr. Brown received several accolades, including his recent Innovation and Growth Award from Black Tech Saturdays in 2024. He attributes his success to his determination, networking, community support, and the value he places on connecting with like-minded individuals.
