Before being acquired by Google, Dr. Ostapenko excelled with Apex Systems in New York City as a software engineer from 2016 to 2018. Earlier, he garnered success as a computer scientist and independent researcher between 2006 and 2016, where he studied and analyzed numerous concepts, problems, representations, inference rules and systems, algorithms, data structures, and heuristics related to Boolean satisfiability. Dr. Ostapenko also spent over 15 years as a freelance software engineer from 2000 to 2016.
Highly educated, Dr. Ostapenko received a Bachelor of Science in computer systems and networking from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics, a top public university in his home country in Minsk, Belarus, in 2005, followed by a Master of Science in informatics on campus in 2006 and a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical foundations of informatics in 2009. In addition to his degrees, he received several professional credentials, including a certificate in English in 2009, a certificate in advanced English in 2011, and a certificate in proficiency in English in 2012 from the University of Cambridge. Furthermore, Dr. Ostapenko received a Master MS SQL Server Programming certification and Master C11 certification from Brainbench in 2016.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ostapenko made substantial strides in researching practical solutions for satisfiability problems, reflecting his commitment to advancing and addressing complex challenges within the field. His most significant accomplishment has been acquiring a position at Google LLC, which is a noteworthy highlight of his career and a testament to his hard work and dedication to advancement.
In light of his accomplishments, Dr. Ostapenko received numerous bonuses and accolades for outstanding delivery and engineering excellence from Google, a First Place Award from TodCoder NYC, and recognition as a semifinalist for Open Bracket, Delaware Algorithmic Contests. He attributes much of his success to his mother’s support and for playing a critical role in his education and research during his formative years. Dr. Ostapenko also notes the importance of taking risks and pushing boundaries to advance in an ever-evolving industry.
