Before being promoted to his directorial role, he was a high-voltage direct current/facts technology manager for the company’s engineering, procurement and construction division from 2020 to 2023.
Leveraging years of previous success, Mr. Lockhart was a project manager at Kiewit Corporation in Lenexa, Kansas, between 2018 and 2020 and an EPC project execution manager at Siemens in Rapid City, South Dakota, from 2008 to 2018. Earlier in his career, he worked for ABB in Rapid City, South Dakota, as an EPC project execution manager and Black Hills Power and Light, beginning as an apprentice before working up to an equipment operator and journeyman lineman. Mr. Lockhart’s expertise in flexible AC transmission systems, high-voltage DC transmission technologies, and geographic information systems has been instrumental in his success. Moreover, his educational background in mechanical engineering at South Dakota Mines and his membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers have significantly shaped his expertise.
Beyond his accomplishments in his field, Mr. Lockhart has maintained a passion for various causes, namely those that support bone marrow donation after his grandson required one after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. As such, he organized a bone marrow drive in Rapid City, which broke national records. Eager for the future of his career at Great Southwestern Construction Inc., Mr. Lockhart intends to continue supporting the company while helping the team develop additional grid solutions and tackle more complex projects. Moreover, he envisions exploring developing projects with emerging technologies, including new power generation technology.
