Title: 1) Architect; 2) Building Inspector
Company: 1) LHD Architects; 2) Town of Rotterdam
Location: Schenectady, New York, United States
Lloyd H. Denny Jr., Architect at LHD Architects and Building Inspector at the Town of Rotterdam, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Construction and Architecture.
Mr. Denny, distinguished for his long and successful career in construction and architecture, began his career in 1978 as a construction drafter with Golub Corporation (now Northeast Grocery). After more than a decade, he served as an associate architect with the Office of General Services in New York from 1986 to 2015. He also maintained a thriving firm, Lloyd Denny, Architect, between 2015 and 2024. Today, Mr. Denny remains actively engaged as the owner of LHD Architects since 2014 and as a building inspector for the Town of Rotterdam, New York, since 2019. His influence and expertise in this sector, particularly building construction, repair and renovation, building maintenance and operations, and building code analysis, have earned him recognition as a leader in his field.
A Hudson Valley Community College graduate, Mr. Denny obtained an associate of applied science in civil engineering technology in 1978. He became a registered architect through the Office of the Professions, New York State Education Department in 1990 and obtained credentials as a New York state code enforcement officer through the United Latino Students Association in 2005. In addition to his educational background, Mr. Denny is a member of several industry-related organizations and initiatives where he remains abreast of industry trends, such as the National Fire Protection Association, the New York State Green Building Conference, and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Moreover, he has been active in his community as the longtime commissioner and fire chief of the South Schenectady Fire Department since 1976.
Throughout his remarkable tenure, Mr. Denny has been fortunate to be a part of numerous significant projects, including a building renovation that was slated to be torn down. Fortunately, he was able to convince the local inspector that despite its structural issues, he could restore the building back to its glory without causing further damage. This experience provided valuable lessons on how to repair buildings safely. As Mr. Denny looks toward the future, he intends to retire fully from the industry while remaining available to consult and mentor younger architects and engineers. He is also interested in providing his expertise in a teaching capacity at a technical college, where he can prepare the next generation of experts for bright futures in construction.
