Currently serving as a senior innovation engineer at The Scotts Company LLC, a consumer goods company based in Marysville, Ohio, since 2024, he has been instrumental in redesigning the company’s innovation platform and creating an internal social media network. Mr. Hagedorn’s responsibilities extend to handling consumer feedback, conducting meetings and collaborating with outside suppliers to develop new products. His expertise in innovation and concept creation is widely recognized as a valued expert in his field.
Following college, Mr. Hagedorn secured a position as a vehicle integration engineer at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in Auburn Hills, Michigan, where he was responsible for the complete design of heavy-duty trucks for RAM. During his tenure from 2013 to 2016, he transitioned from system integration engineer to vehicle integration engineer. He played a crucial role in representing the voice of the customer by incorporating consumer feedback into engineering requirements. In 2016, Mr. Hagedorn joined Ford Motor Company as an advanced engineer, where he contributed significantly to innovation efforts and secured over 15 U.S. patents.
In addition to his engineering roles, Mr. Hagedorn ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing Harpy Liquor in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, in 2021 and serving as its chief operations officer until 2024. He also held the position of president at the Michigrain Distillery in Lansing, Michigan, from 2022 to 2024.
Mr. Hagedorn’s career journey began after he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, in 2013. Despite the challenges of financial constraints and a high dropout rate, he successfully graduated, driven by his early interest in engineering, inspired by his father’s hobbies. He further pursued graduate studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, focusing on human factors.
In addition to his work-related endeavors, Mr. Hagedorn is a member of Mensa International. He is also committed to community service, which has been evident through his involvement as a board member of Michigrain Distillery and as a community outreach coordinator for The Scotts Company LLC. He also actively supports organizations such as Urban Firemen and Green Faces for People and advocates on behalf of individuals experiencing homelessness. Previously, Mr. Hagedorn was the president of the board of directors for the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative in Detroit between 2020 and 2023.
Mr. Hagedorn’s achievements were recognized several times, including with the Catalyst Award from Ford Motor Company. His leadership in the distillery industry was also acknowledged when he received the Double Gold Award at the International Spirits SIP Awards in 2022.
Through deep reflection and an ability to quietly contemplate challenges, Mr. Hagedorn continues to excel in his career while making meaningful contributions to both his professional field and community initiatives. Looking ahead, he plans to celebrate the successful launch of an innovative mycorrhizal product and explore consulting opportunities to further his intellectual interests. Additionally, Mr. Hagedorn is committed to giving back to his community by fostering children and providing them with a safe home environment.
