Mr. McMillon has established a distinguished career in the field of engineering, marked by his current role as a distinguished engineer and technology fellow at Halliburton. Since 2022, he has excelled at the forefront of designing and implementing digital solutions architecture, with a focus on real-time systems and cloud architecture. His work extends to cross-disciplinary initiatives, including artificial intelligence transformation and organizational learning, aimed at enhancing workforce adaptability and skills development. Prior to this position, Mr. McMillon found success as chief solutions architect at Halliburton from 2018 to 2022, where he was instrumental in developing innovative solutions that aligned with the company’s strategic goals.

Before ascending to these leadership roles, Mr. McMillon worked as the software development manager at Halliburton from 2016 to 2018. During this period, he honed his skills in managing complex software projects and leading teams to deliver high-quality products. His journey with Halliburton began in 2011 when he joined as a software portfolio manager and electrical engineer. Over the ensuing five years, he contributed significantly to the company’s technological advancements, garnering recognition for his expertise and dedication.

Mr. McMillon’s career commenced in the United States Army, where he served as a signals intelligence analyst from 2001 to 2005. This experience laid the foundation for his technical acumen and problem-solving abilities. Following his military service, he transitioned into the civilian sector as a product line manager and user interface engineer at Navigation Solutions from 2005 to 2011. He likewise played a pivotal role in designing user interfaces for in-car GPS systems.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. McMillon is deeply committed to civic engagement and community service. He founded Wiley Community Performing Arts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to forming community bands and orchestras that involve both adults and high school students. This initiative provides a platform for performing artists who have moved on in their careers or are no longer performing professionally to continue engaging with music in a volunteer-based setting. His dedication to community service is further exemplified by his roles as a former cubmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Houston and Halliburton’s Veterans Leadership Group.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. McMillon pursued an education at The University of Texas at Dallas, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2009. He continued his studies at Texas Tech University, obtaining a Master of Science in systems and engineering management in 2016. Mr. McMillon ultimately concluded his impressive academic efforts by completing doctorate coursework at Texas Tech University in 2023.

Mr. McMillon’s educational achievements have been complemented by numerous certifications, including as a Certified Developer Associate and Certified Solutions Architect Associate from Amazon Web Services. He additionally garnered his certification as a Professional Engineer from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, an artificial intelligence certification from edX, and his certification as a LabVIEW Associate Developer from National Instruments.

Throughout his career, Mr. McMillon has been recognized for his contributions to the field of engineering with several awards and honors. Notably, he was presented with the Unit Leader Award of Merit from the Boy Scouts of America in 2019. 

In his personal endeavors, Mr. McMillon enjoys playing pickleball and values time spent with his family, including his loving spouse, Caitlyn, and their wonderful three sons. He is also active as a member of industry-related organizations such as IEEE, Mensa, and the Industry Fellows Forum.

Looking toward the future, Mr. McMillon aims to focus on learning and behavior within organizations, particularly how artificial intelligence and digital changes impact workforce learning and adaptation. He also hopes to remain involved in organizing conferences through the Industry Fellows Forum to better address challenges and explore strategies for attracting and retaining talent in an evolving technological landscape.
