With more than 10 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Akula has established himself throughout an esteemed career in the field of technology. Since 2022, he has excelled as a staff site reliability engineer at Visa since 2022. In this role, he is responsible for managing, provisioning and monitoring applications using Kubernetes clusters. His expertise in this area has been instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of critical systems.
Prior to his tenure at Visa, Mr. Akula found much success at Electronic Arts Inc., where he held several positions from 2012 to 2022. As a site reliability engineer from 2019 to 2022, he developed innovative solutions such as an automation tool that sent notifications to alert teams about potential system downtimes, significantly reducing the risk of application failures. Before advancing to the role of site reliability engineer, he served as an MCC systems administrator from 2017 to 2018 and as an MCC senior systems administrator from 2018 to 2019. During this period, he led a successful migration project that transitioned players from on-premise servers to the cloud, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure both code and infrastructure readiness. Mr. Akula’s early career at Electronic Arts began as a tech support analyst for Linux from 2012 to 2014, where he laid the foundation for his future accomplishments.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Akula pursued an education at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Technology in electrical, electronics and communications engineering in 2012. He subsequently graduated with a Master of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Tennessee Tech University in 2016, where he was also active as a graduate research and teaching assistant. During his time there, Mr. Akula collaborated with Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud on research projects focused on smart grid technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) advancements.
In addition to his formal education, Mr. Akula has pursued numerous certifications that have further enhanced his technical proficiency. These include managing applications and infrastructure with Terraform and Git and GitLab courses from Linux Academy, as well as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) credentials. He also completed postgraduate programs in data science and business analytics and artificial intelligence and machine learning at The University of Texas at Austin.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Akula is deeply committed to civic engagement and philanthropy. Since 2010, he has been an event organizer for Technophilia Systems Pvt. Ltd., fostering technological innovation and collaboration. As an anonymous donor, he supports various organizations focused on Hindu temple charities, homeless support, medical care initiatives and underprivileged communities in India.
Mr. Akula’s contributions extend to academia through his co-authorship of several publications with IEEE on privacy-preserving technologies in smart grids. His work has been recognized with accolades such as the Live Release Award from EA Mobile and a nomination for the Second Annual Eminence Award for Best Teaching Assistant at Tennessee Tech University.
In his personal time, Mr. Akula enjoys reading industry papers on technology trends, hiking and exploring new cuisines through cooking. In the coming years, he aims to establish Future World Security Solutions (FWSS), a company dedicated to providing security services with a focus on end-user protection. Additionally, he plans to launch an AI-driven startup and collaborate with companies designing systems for electrical breakers while completing a cybersecurity course titled “UPS in Cybersecurity.”
