With more than 25 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Aasi has established himself as an esteemed expert in the fields of information security and cybersecurity. Most recently, he has found success as a senior technical security risk engineer at UCLA Health, a position he has held since 2021. In this role, Mr. Aasi is responsible for identifying and addressing cybersecurity risks across projects within the aforementioned organization for the state of California. Mr. Aasi manages a team of seven professionals, acting as the primary gatekeeper with the authority to approve or block projects based on security risk assessments.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Aasi worked as an information security analyst at at Chrome River Technologies from 2018 to 2021 and Emburse from 2020 to 2021. His expertise in these positions involved analyzing and mitigating security threats, which further honed his skills in cybersecurity. Additionally, since 2016, Mr. Aasi has found success as a core faculty member and professor at the University of Redlands, where he excels in mentoring students and delivering lectures on information technology and cybersecurity.
Mr. Aasi began his career as part of the technical staff at Targee Pharmacy between 1998 and 1999. Following this post, he was recruited as an assistant IT administrator at American Finance House LARIBA from 2001 to 2003. Operating as an independent information technology consultant from 2005 to 2006, Mr. Aasi subsequently built upon his professional reputation as a network consultant with Prompt Technologies in 2006.
To support his ambitions within his field. Mr. Aasi initially pursued an education at California State University, Los Angeles, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems-information technology from California State University, Los Angeles in 2006. He later returned to his studies at the University of Redlands, obtaining a Master of Business Administration in 2013. Expanding upon his skill set, he continued his studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic studies at International Open University in 2014 and a Master of Science in computer information systems at Boston University Metropolitan College in 2019. Mr. Aasi’s dedication to continued learning is underscored by his present academic efforts at International Open University, from which he aims to garner a Master of Arts in Islamic studies.
Mr. Aasi’s professional journey is marked by numerous certifications that punctuate his commitment to excellence. These credentials include the AccessData Certified Examiner certification from ExterroFTK in 2017, ITIL certifications from Axelos Ltd., and a certificate in computer security from the University of London in 2014. His dedication to professional development is further evidenced by his membership in industry-related organizations such as the Association of IT Professionals and the San Gabriel Valley Linux Users Group.
Beyond his primary endeavors, Mr. Aasi is deeply involved in civic activities, serving as IT director for ICSGV since 2005. He was previously involved with a nonprofit organization until 2019. His contributions have been recognized with accolades such as the Bank of America Business Award in 2000. Mr. Aasi was additionally honored as the Student of the Millennium by the Parent-Teacher-Student Association in 2000.
