Orlando X. Sirbas, senior automation engineer at Binary Defense, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology and cybersecurity.
Growing up in the early 1990s, Mr. Sirbas was introduced to computers by his parents, who worked in real estate, and he quickly fell in love. Fascinated by computer games, software and the internet, he also realized how vital technology could be for work, seeing how his parents were aided by computer programs. From that initial interest, Mr. Sirbas has gone on to build a professional life in the technology space that has now extended for over 10 years. That journey began as a software developer with Applied Systems in 2013.
Equally dedicated to learning about technology himself and to teaching others, Mr. Sirbas contributed for several years as a graduate teaching assistant at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies, and as a game developer and instructor at Robert Morris University. Following this, he shifted into the cybersecurity field as a business intelligence analyst and automation engineer with Alliant Credit Union. Mr. Sirbas started a five-year tenure at Capgemini in 2019, joining the organization as a cybersecurity engineer. Recognized for his expertise and leadership skills, he was later promoted to senior cybersecurity engineer and technical lead.
Most recently, Mr. Sirbas has stepped into the role of senior automation engineer at Binary Defense in 2024. Invited to this venture by former Capgemini colleagues, he has aided the company in creating its security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) platform. Mr. Sirbas has developed custom integrations and automated various security analysis workflows to help report incidents. He has also showcased mastery of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology by implementing large language model (LLM) interactions.
Mr. Sirbas’ performance in the field has been backed up by his academic foundation. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in game and simulation programming from DeVry University in 2012. Subsequently, Mr. Sirbas earned a Master of Science in project management and software engineering from Northwestern University in 2016. He also held membership in the Project Management Institute at this time, utilizing that connection for further learning opportunities.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Sirbas has given time and energy to many causes he cares about. While with Capgemini, he was a regular volunteer with Capgemini Cares Day, a company-wide day of service in partnership with multiple charities. Mr. Sirbas has also volunteered with Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center and Make-A-Wish Illinois. Additionally, he has contributed as an educator at Saint Mary’s Summer Program and as a volunteer financial literacy instructor at Operation HOPE.
Beyond his career, Mr. Sirbas is a devoted husband and a loving father to two children. In his free time, he enjoys practicing martial arts with his oldest son, cooking, baking, playing racquetball with his father, reading, mountain climbing, traveling and playing video games with his family. When envisioning his future, Mr. Sirbas hopes to take on a more prominent leadership role, particularly aiming to become a principal engineer. He plans to continue leveraging his passion for and expertise in groundbreaking new technology, which allows him to offer potential future employers a vital tool for positioning themselves at the forefront of advancements in the field.
