Associated with Aviat Networks since 2007, he began as the director of sales and operations planning before transitioning into the role of director of business processing engineering.
In his latest role, which began in 2010, Mr. Nguyen has overseen the integration of three major acquisitions into the company, demonstrating his mastery of end-to-end process knowledge and his ability to manage complex organizational transitions. His unique position as the sole expert with complete process oversight within his company underscores his value and influence.
Before his tenure at Aviat Networks, Mr. Nguyen served as the director of operations in Montreal for Harris Communications from 1992 to 2007. Between 2004 and 2006, he also directed operations for Montreal for the MCD division of Harris, The Lincoln Electric Company. Earlier, Mr. Nguyen was appointed as the director of manufacturing operations for Harris, The Lincoln Electric Company, in Brazil. This international assignment allowed him to apply his expertise in process improvement on a global scale, enhancing manufacturing capabilities and fostering cross-cultural collaboration.
Among other key roles during his tenure in the industry, Mr. Nguyen gained valuable experience at IBM from 1980 to 1988, advancing from a manufacturing engineer to an engineering director. His tenure at IBM provided a strong foundation in technical innovation and project management. Mr. Nguyen began his professional journey with two years in quality control at Philips.
Mr. Nguyen’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, Canada, conferred in 1980. He also completed coursework at Polytechnique Montréal.
Among his civic affiliations, Mr. Nguyen held membership in various organizations, including the Texas Spokes Sports Car Club, the San Antonio Sports Car Association, the San Antonio Autocross Club, and the Austin Autocross Club. He received accolades such as Rookie of the Year and was named Member of the Year twice.
Mr. Nguyen’s expertise in mergers and acquisitions and process improvement has been widely acknowledged throughout his career. He has received several prestigious awards, including a General Manager Price Recognition in 1998, a Sector President’s Innovation Award from Harris Corporation in 1998 and a CEO Recognition Award from Aviat Networks in 2015.
Throughout his career, Mr. Nguyen has also been recognized for his mentorship and dedication to developing talent within his teams. He considers his legacy as a mentor and tutor among his most significant achievements, having guided numerous professionals who have gone on to excel in their own careers following the closure of the Montreal operations. Many of these individuals maintain strong professional connections with Mr. Nguyen, reflecting the enduring impact of his guidance.
Mr. Nguyen credits much of his success to lessons learned early in his career, particularly the importance of leveraging past experiences for better decision-making, as well as an exceptional memory that enables him to retain critical knowledge acquired during his studies.
