John Ryan “Jack” Harris, Field Safety, Quality and Compliance Manager at Metalogic Inspection Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Safety and Compliance Administration.
Mr. Harris has spent his career in inspection, safety and quality, but the story behind it is what makes his path stand out. He did not come from a polished background or a guaranteed future. Between the ages of 18 and 21, he went through some of the hardest years of his life, which shaped him, forced him to grow fast and taught him to depend on discipline, grit and a kind of stubborn determination that ended up defining his work ethic. Those experiences became the reason he pushes himself so hard today.
Mr. Harris is now the field safety, quality and compliance manager at Metalogic Inspection Services, a company that has expanded its operations and is now based in the United States. Over the past two years, he has taken on the challenge of bringing multiple offices together under a single quality system. Anyone who has ever worked across regions knows how hard that is, as there are different habits, different paperwork styles, and different ways of communicating. Mr. Harris cut through all of that and got everyone aligned. Because of that effort, the company has handled state, federal and client audits with confidence and consistency.
Mr. Harris has also been heavily involved with the terminal and facilities department since 2022. That role was not something he planned, but something he stepped into because it needed to be done. It is one of the things that says the most about him. When something needs fixing or improving, Mr. Harris simply does it; he doesn’t wait for someone else to take the lead.
Before joining Metalogic, Mr. Harris spent many years with Applus RTD in several states, taking on roles that built his experience piece by piece. He worked as a project manager in Houston, a senior inspector, an advanced technician in Bakersfield, a radiographer in Ventura County, and even a GIS technician. His career started back in 2012 at PCC Structurals in Oregon. None of it was handed to him; he built every part of it from the ground up.
Mr. Harris’ education and certifications helped cement that foundation. He earned an Associate of Science in quality control management from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in 2011. Over the years, he added major certifications, including GUL Level II XB and API 570 piping inspection, which helped him specialize in advanced NDE methods and quality programs.
But the technical side is not what drives Mr. Harris. What drives him is the idea of making things better than he found them. He values order, clear systems, and consistency, and he believes that safe operations and strong quality programs are built on respect for the people doing the work. That mindset has shaped the culture around him.
Looking forward, Mr. Harris sees himself taking on greater leadership responsibilities at Metalogic Inspection Services, possibly moving into a chief quality officer role. Beyond that, he has an interest in public service and politics. Not for recognition, but because he knows what it is like to start at the bottom and fight for something better. He believes those experiences give him a perspective of which the world needs more.
Mr. Harris’ story is ultimately one of resilience, as he was a kid who faced hard years early on and turned those lessons into a career centered on responsibility, integrity, and leadership. It was not a straight path, but it shows exactly who he is and how far determination can take someone.
