Ms. Bhalotia has established herself in both technology and product development, marked by more than 25 years of progressive leadership and innovation. In 2024, she assumed the role of senior vice president of engineering at RemoteLock, overseeing engineering strategy and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Her tenure at RemoteLock began in 2021 as the vice president of engineering, a position she held until 2024. During this period, Ms. Bhalotia played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s technical capabilities and building high-performing teams.
Since 2015, Ms. Bhalotia has also served as a co-founder and chief technology officer at Purpleslate Pvt. Ltd., where she has overseen the development of advanced technology solutions and contributed to the company’s growth in the digital space. The start-up company launched a mobile application that sends event invites and collects RSVPs via text messages in seconds.
Ms. Bhalotia’s entrepreneurial spirit was previously demonstrated as a co-founder and chief technology officer at Sweet Relish from 2011 to 2015, which was acquired by Omnistream. Her earlier expertise in enterprise architecture was honed during her time at Pearson, beginning as a senior enterprise architect from 2015 to 2017, advancing to manager of architecture and then director of enterprise architecture until 2021. Ms. Bhalotia is particularly proud of her work on the Early Alert product, which leveraged artificial intelligence to help educators identify students who may be struggling. This initiative reflected her commitment to integrating technology with education to improve student outcomes.
Earlier influential roles of Ms. Bhalotia included serving as the director of technology at Acta Wireless from 2010 to 2011, where she managed mobile technology initiatives, and as the head of mobile technology at MBmobile LLC between 2008 and 2010. She also excelled as the director of engineering at Opera Telecom, leading engineering teams to deliver innovative telecommunications solutions from 2005 to 2008.
Ms. Bhalotia’s foundation in technology began with roles as a senior technologist at the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) from 2002 to 2005 and a software engineer at Invertix Corporation from 2000 to 2002. These early positions provided her with valuable experience in software development and set the stage for her future leadership roles.
Ms. Bhalotia’s academic journey began after relocating from Kolkata, India, to the U.S. at age 18 with limited financial resources. Demonstrating determination and independence, she funded her education through scholarships and part-time campus employment. Ms. Bhalotia completed a Bachelor of Science in computer science at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia, in 2001, followed by a Master of Science in telecommunications from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, in 2005.
A formative internship at a Washington, D.C., area tech startup during Ms. Bhalotia’s undergraduate years introduced her to startup culture and product development. Notably, the founder became an influential mentor who later invested in her ventures. This mentorship, along with support from others who believed in Ms. Bhalotia’s potential, has been integral throughout her career.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Bhalotia is committed to civic engagement and community service. Since 2000, she has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity International, contributing time and expertise to support affordable housing initiatives. Earlier, Ms. Bhalotia participated in the Bonner Scholar Program through The Corella & Bertram F. Bonner Foundation from 1998 to 2001.
Ms. Bhalotia’s accomplishments have been recognized through several awards, including Architect of the Quarter and Architect of the Year honors, as well as Best Product of the Year distinctions. She also received recognition as MBmobile LLC’s Employee of the Year in 2009 for her outstanding contributions. Ms. Bhalotia attributes much of her success to building strong relationships and a blend of perseverance and good fortune.
Looking ahead, Ms. Bhalotia intends to remain active in technology and product development with aspirations to achieve financial independence and launch another tech startup focused on education. She is passionate about creating meaningful content that positively impacts lives and envisions developing a curated library of inspirational material accessible through an affordable subscription model, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to innovation and social good.
