Orlando Xavier Sirbas, product security engineer at EcoLab has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology and cybersecurity.

Introduced to computers in the early 1990s by his parents — who relied on technology in their real estate careers — Mr. Sirbas quickly developed a fascination with software, games, and the emerging internet. What began as curiosity soon evolved into a deeper appreciation for how technology enables real-world productivity and problem-solving. That early exposure laid the foundation for a professional career that now spans more than 13 years.

Mr. Sirbas began his post-grad career in 2013 as a software developer at Applied Systems, where he worked on large-scale insurance management platforms. During this time, he also contributed to developer training initiatives across multiple offices. While working full-time, he earned a Master of Computer Science from Northwestern University, graduating in 2016 with a 4.0 GPA and a specialization in software engineering, project management, and data science.

Following graduate school, Mr. Sirbas transitioned into the financial sector as a business intelligence analyst and automation engineer at Alliant Credit Union. There, he modernized analytics and reporting platforms and automated various business processes. His growing interest in security emerged while collaborating with the fraud team, where his automations helped dismantle an active fraud ring — an experience that shifted his career trajectory toward cybersecurity and automation.

Mr. Sirbas subsequently interviewed for a role with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Virginia and ultimately began a five-year tenure as a cybersecurity engineer at Capgemini in 2019, supporting global managed detection and response (MDR) operations. Recognized for his expertise and leadership skills, he was promoted to senior cybersecurity engineer and served as a technical lead for multiple enterprise platforms including Cortex XSOAR and the Elastic Stack. Known for his ability to stabilize complex systems under pressure, he led platform redesigns, trained engineers across teams, and helped prevent multimillion-dollar contract losses. He was also instrumental in Elastic Stack adoption, earned his Elastic Certified Engineer credential, and became a trusted mentor and leader within the organization.

In 2024, Mr. Sirbas joined Binary Defense as a senior automation engineer and D3 technical lead at the request of his former Capgemini colleagues, where he led SOAR platform strategy and development at scale. His work modernized automation workflows, drastically reduced investigation times, and influenced vendor-level platform improvements. He has also showcased mastery of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology by introducing AI-assisted investigations leveraging large language model (LLM) interactions.

In December 2025, Mr. Sirbas joined Ecolab as a product security engineer, where he focuses on security assessments, strengthening DevSecOps practices, facilitating internal training around security best practices, and ensuring consistent security maturity across global cloud and IoT deployments spanning more than 170 countries. In this role, he bridges engineering, security, and operations to embed security early and sustainably across product lifecycles.

Mr. Sirbas’ performance in the field has been backed up by his academic foundation, and his dedication to civic advocacy has led him to give time and energy to many causes he cares about over the years. He has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to education and mentorship by facilitating internal training for many of his colleagues, and by providing formal instruction as a graduate teaching assistant at Northwestern University, as a game developer and instructor at Robert Morris University for the CPS Summer STEM Launch program, and as a volunteer instructor for Operation HOPE — helping hundreds of students gain early exposure to technology and programming.

Beyond his career and volunteer contributions, Mr. Sirbas is a devoted husband and loving father of two boys. He enjoys traveling, cooking, practicing martial arts with his eldest son, gaming and playing sports with his family, tinkering with home automation projects, and creating custom lightsaber soundfonts. Looking ahead, he aspires to expand his impact in senior technical leadership roles — such as principal engineer or director — where he can continue shaping secure, scalable systems while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
