Since 2020, he has served as the vice president of the project management office and margin/productivity at Trane Technologies plc, a global climate innovator advancing sustainability through its leading brands Trane® and Thermo King®, in Davidson, North Carolina. In this capacity, Mr. Sauls has demonstrated a commitment to developing people and building organizational competency, which has been instrumental in cultivating future leaders within the company. His focus on talent development and leadership has supported robust revenue performance, including double-digit growth and the business’s expansion from $11.5 billion to $25 billion over five years. Mr. Sauls regards building a deep bench of talent alongside sustained financial performance as one of his most significant professional accomplishments.

Affiliated with Trane Technologies plc since 2020, Mr. Sauls formerly served as the senior director of the project management office and margin/productivity. In this position, he drove operational excellence and strategic initiatives that contributed to the company’s growth trajectory.

Recruited from Ingersoll Rand, Mr. Sauls spent 2015 to 2020 as the senior director of project management in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this leading role, he was responsible for pipeline growth, project prioritization and portfolio management, among other tasks. Affiliated with Ingersoll Rand for nearly two decades, he served as the director of product development and engineering excellence in Bridgeton, Missouri, in 2014 and 2015. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Sauls was the director of continuous improvement and productivity process excellence in St. Louis, Missouri. He also served as the global engineering manager for retail solutions programs at Ingersoll Rand in Bridgeton between 2006 and 2010, after working as a plant manager for sheet metal and custom products operations there from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Sauls’s initial role at Ingersoll Rand was as an environmental health and safety facilities manager in Chicago, Illinois, in 2001, where he ensured regulatory compliance and promoted workplace safety.

Mr. Sauls began his professional journey at General Motors as a senior process engineer from 1997 to 1999. He then pivoted to the role of senior production superintendent. These foundational roles provided him with critical experience in production management and process optimization.

Highly educated, Mr. Sauls earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Southern University and A&M College in 1997, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Kettering University in 2001, and a Master of Business Administration in business economics from Webster University in 2007. These academic achievements have provided a strong foundation for his technical expertise and leadership capabilities. Additionally, Mr. Sauls holds several professional certifications that underscore his commitment to excellence. He is recognized as a Six Sigma black belt from the American Society for Quality and International Six Sigma Institute™ since 2006, as a project management professional from the Project Management Institute since 2010, and as a certified scrum master from Scrum Alliance Inc. since 2020.

Mr. Sauls has served as an executive sponsor for the National Society of Black Engineers since 2020. He is also a dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., maintaining active involvement since 1995. Civically, Mr. Sauls has contributed as the head coach for the Chesterfield Football Association since 2009.

Throughout his career, Mr. Sauls has been recognized for his leadership with various accolades, including the President’s Award for Leadership. Attributing much of his success to the guidance and support of his wife, an accomplished human resources business partner who has served as his primary coach, ally and confidant throughout his career, Mr. Sauls is very grateful to her.

Looking ahead, Mr. Sauls aspires to advance into engineering leadership or contribute to an enterprise called the Strategic Realization Office within his organization. He envisions helping create a more formal office that connects strategy with project management to further align organizational goals with execution.
