Concurrently, from 2006 to 2018, Mr. Clayton was a full-stack engineer at various Fast Track Sites throughout Texas. Additionally, he served as an information technology system administrator at Suddenlink Communications for five years, starting in 2006. In this foundational role, he managed critical information technology systems and supported organizational operations.
Mr. Clayton’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on management and operations and a Master of Business Administration in information technology from Western Governors University in 2018 and 2020, respectively. These academic achievements have provided him with a strong foundation in both technical knowledge and business strategy, directly contributing to his success in leading complex projects and teams. One of Mr. Clayton’s career highlights included transitioning to independent work and developing a suite of over 20 custom software solutions. Among these innovations was an online point-of-sale system that predated modern platforms like Stripe and Square. Mr. Clayton also achieved a significant milestone by developing a comprehensive platform that leveraged Facebook’s application programming interfaces to overhaul his studio’s technology infrastructure. This innovative system enhanced clients’ reporting capabilities and streamlined budgeting and campaign management. By automating previously manual tasks, Mr. Clayton’s software enabled team members to focus on high-value clients while reducing time spent on lower-priority projects, minimizing human error and increasing operational efficiency.
Reflecting on his career, Mr. Clayton has attributed his ongoing success to an insatiable curiosity that drives him to learn new topics and adapt rapidly. This relentless pursuit of knowledge began early, inspired by a fascination with computers in second grade. Mr. Clayton later taught himself web design, software development, computer building and programming throughout high school. This hands-on experience led him into the field shortly after college, launching a career that has spanned programming roles, custom system building and leadership positions at major technology companies.
Looking ahead, Mr. Clayton intends to pursue chief technology officer-level roles, ideally at Amazon, and is open to opportunities that may require relocating within the United States or Europe. He also plans to seek dual residency in both regions to balance family proximity with cultural interests. Throughout his career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Clayton has exemplified innovation, adaptability and leadership, qualities that continue to define his contributions to the field of software development management.
