In this capacity, he is also responsible for building generative AI platforms for the company. Before his current role, Mr. Samayam was a senior architect at American Airlines from 2021 to 2023, responsible for the design, architecture, security, privacy and enablement aspects of the enterprise. He initially joined American Airlines in 2012, where he spent nearly a decade as a product technical leader and senior architect. During this period, Mr. Samayam advanced the organization’s capabilities in application architecture with a focus on cloud technologies while guiding teams through complex operational challenges.
Earlier in 2012, Mr. Samayam worked as a database administrator at Advanced Technology Services, Inc. There, he supported critical database systems for clients across various industries. From 2010 to 2012, he served as a database administrator at Li-ion Motors, an electric vehicle manufacturing company funded by NASA. In this dual capacity as both a database engineer and an electrical engineer, Mr. Samayam contributed to essential systems supporting electric vehicle production.
Mr. Samayam began his professional journey in India as a database engineer at Wipro Technologies, a leading AI-powered technology services and consulting company headquartered in Bangalore, in 2007. This foundational experience provided him with early exposure to enterprise-scale database management and set the stage for his future accomplishments in technology architecture.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Samayam earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad in 2007, followed by a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through an extensive list of certifications that span leading technology platforms and methodologies. These include Oracle ACE associate and MySQL implementation certified associate through Oracle, recognition as an Azure solutions architect expert through Microsoft, and credentials as a certified solutions architect associate through Amazon Web Services, Inc., among many others obtained between 2019 and 2026.
A respected thought leader and educator, Mr. Samayam has shared his knowledge through numerous speaking engagements at international conferences and user communities. Notable appearances included Oracle CloudWorld, the MySQL HeatWave Summit in Redwood City, the Oracle OpenWorld, and events hosted by the Dallas Oracle User Group and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Oracle User Group. Mr. Samayam has also delivered technical presentations on topics such as migration strategy from Oracle to PostgreSQL, high availability architectures using Patroni PostgreSQL clusters and full-stack disaster recovery solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Mr. Samayam’s professional affiliations further underscore his standing in the field. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and served on committee panels reviewing senior member applications for the organization in 2024 and 2025. He also actively participates in the United States PostgreSQL Association as well as the Oracle ACE Program.
Beyond professional achievements, Mr. Samayam is deeply engaged with civic-minded organizations and community outreach efforts. Since 2019, he has volunteered with American Airlines’ community initiatives. Mr. Samayam also maintains ongoing participation in technology user groups where he encourages students and early-career professionals to pursue careers in technology.
