Denis Alberto dos Santos Azevedo Silva, MBA, PE, PMP, Senior Program Manager for the Aerospace, Defense and Performance Division at Saft, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in aerospace engineering.
With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva has excelled as the senior program manager for the Aerospace, Defense and Performance Division for Saft since 2020. Prior to this position, he was active as a lean six sigma leader for EaglePicher Technologies from 2017 to 2018, a senior program manager for medical power with EaglePicher Technologies from 2018 to 2019 and an ESS PMO leader for Saft from 2019 to 2020. Since 2017, he has served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, advancing to become a civil engineer officer and first lieutenant in 2023. He previously worked in a number of roles with Gerdau S/A between 2006 and 2017, including as a technical advisor, plant manager, management systems specialist, management systems manager and operations manager. Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva began his career with the ThyssenKrupp Foundation Ltd. in 1994 before eventually departing the company as a senior process engineer and black belt in 2006.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva pursued an education at Severino Sombra University, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He subsequently continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in metallurgical engineering from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 2007, a graduate certificate in management from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in 2007, and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2021. Following these accomplishments, he graduated from Officer Training School. Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva is currently pursuing a doctorate in civil engineering at the University of Maryland.
In addition to his perseverance, Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva attributes his success to his sense of pride, not only for himself but for the country he represents. Among the many highlights of his career, he is incredibly proud of his involvement in a project called Commissioning in Alaska as well as a gold mine renewable site project in Australia where six large batteries were installed at the energy collection point of solar and wind production, installed especially in areas that had experienced frequent power outages. In the coming years, he hopes to complete his doctorate in 2025 and make a contribution to academia through speaking engagements to influence and inspire the next generation. Furthermore, Mr. dos Santos Azevedo Silva anticipates being promoted to captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in the near future.
