Mr. Santiago began his career in the electrical field during his youth but advanced quickly with the help of his mentors. In 2011, he worked for Brookhaven National Laboratory as the chief electrical inspector until 2020. He currently serves as the safety engineer and the project lead for the electrical safety engineering program at Sandia National Laboratories. He has thrived in these positions since 2020.

Attributing his success to those who saw his potential and guided him toward the electrical safety sector, Mr. Santiago earned an associate’s degree in electronics and electrical engineering from Elgin Community College in 1990. He subsequently became a journeyman for the Electrical and Power Transmission Installers through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1992. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical and mechanical technology from SUNY Empire State College in 2018. Mr. Santiago has been certified in several fields including commercial electrical inspector, property maintenance and housing inspector, residential building inspector, and residential electrical inspector by the International Code Council. The New York State Department of Homeland Security has certified him as a New York state code enforcement officer.
