Gen. Kenneth E. Eickmann, senior research affiliate at the center for electromechanics at the University of Texas, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in energy security.
With 27 years of experience to his credit, Gen. Eichmann has excelled as senior research affiliate at the Center for Electromechanics of the University of Texas since 1998. He began his career as a commander ASC in the United States Air Force from 1996 to 1998. He was a maintenance officer tasked with ensuring that all aircraft were properly maintained, mission-ready, and mission-capable. He commanded an air logistics center and a product center. In that role, the Air Force research labs also reported through him, putting him in charge of all research and development for the United States Air Force.
Before embarking on his professional path, Gen. Eichmann pursued an education at the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in mechanical engineering in 1967. He continued his academic efforts at the United States Air Force Institute of Technology, obtaining a Master of Science in systems engineering in 1968. At the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces, he graduated with a Master of Science in national security management in 1983. He has completed coursework towards a PhD. He holds certifications from Harvard University, the Defense Systems Management College, the Air War College, and the University of Michigan.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Gen. Eichmann has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He created the Center for Energy Security. He notes being selected by the President of the United States to be a general officer as one of his greatest honors. He received his stars from Presidents Reagan, Bush, and Clinton. His greatest personal honor was to receive the 191st Order of the Sword given by the US Air Force.
Gen. Eickmann grew up wanting to join the military and attend college. He admired two of his uncles who served in World War II. He worked and paid his way through the University of Texas before joining the United States Air Force where he had great assignments and made many wonderful friends. In the immediate future, he would like to continue to match the technological needs of the Air Force Department of Defense with the research capabilities of a major research university, such as making synthetic aircraft fuels.
