With decades of experience in quality engineering and mechanical design to her credit, Ms. Romero has excelled as a quality engineer with Sandia National Laboratories since 2022, a position in which she conducts data analysis on assessments, audits, and risk management while maintaining process indicators for quality assurance records and handling training, facilitation, and presentations. She began her career as a mechanical designer with Motorola Mobility LLC from 1992 to 2001, during which time she simultaneously worked as a mechanical designer and layout engineer with the CTS Corporation from 1998 to 2001. She subsequently served as a mechanical designer for Ata Sensors from 2001 to 2002, a team leader with General Mills from 2002 to 2014, and both a line lead and platform lead with General Mills from 2014 to 2019. Prior to her present role, Ms. Romero found success with Sandia National Laboratories as a quality systems professional between 2019 and 2022.
To support her professional ambitions, Ms. Romero initially earned an Associate of Applied Science in mechanical drafting and computer-aided design in 1993. She continued her studies nearly 20 years later, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in management from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She concluded her academic efforts at Regis University in 2020, graduating with a Master of Science in project leadership and management. Driven by her curiosity and a desire to always improve, Ms. Romero was drawn to her field by her fascination with the process of creating and enhancing things.
Beyond her primary endeavors, Ms. Romero remains committed to supporting her community, especially by volunteering with animal rescue organizations. Attributing her wealth of success to her leadership skills and her ability to establish strong connections with others, she has been presented with a number of accolades, including Excellence Awards, a Customer Support Excellence Award, a Leadership Award, and a Safety Champion Award. Among the highlights of her career, she is incredibly proud of her outstanding work at General Mills Inc., where she reduced workplace safety incidents by more than 80% and reduced waste in their granola bar production facility. Looking toward the future, Ms. Romero envisions herself leaving an indelible mark at Sandia by leading the charge in developing enterprise risk management training while planning for her eventual retirement.
