Miles A. Smither, PhD, president of engineering at Circuit Concepts Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electronics.

With over four and a half decades of experience, Dr. Smither has built a successful career in the electronics industry, specializing in circuit analysis of analog and digital systems. Since 1978, he has served as the president of Circuit Concepts Inc., a leading technology company specializing in designing and manufacturing high-performance electronic circuits and components for various industries. In this capacity, he consults with various companies, primarily focusing on the oil and gas industry. Additionally, he has an extensive teaching background, having worked as an adjunct associate professor of electrical engineering at the University of Houston from 1980 to 1993, a lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Houston from 1979 to 1980, and an instructor from 1975 to 1978. Before that, he was a product development engineer at Mandrel Products in 1974 and 1975 and a design engineer at General Electric Company, Apollo Systems, from 1968 to 1974. He began his career as a technician at the University of Houston in 1966 and a student trainee at NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center from 1963 to 1967.

Dr. Smither is also the co-founder of the Laura Recovery Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of abductions and the recovery of missing children established in 1998, where he also served as a secretary and volunteer until 2020. He and his wife established the center in memory of their daughter, Laura Kate Smither, who was abducted and lost her life at the age of 12. He has also been involved with the Libertarian Party of Texas, where he worked as a data manager from 2010 to 2013 and ran as a candidate for U.S. Congress in Texas District 22 from 2005 to 2006. His creative works include numerous journal articles, papers, and presentations, and he holds 20 patents. He also volunteers at the Armand Bayou Nature Center and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.  Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, graduating cum laude from the University of Houston in 1967, followed by a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1968 and a PhD in electrical engineering in 1978, all from the same institution. He attributes his success to dedicating himself to the work he loves and excelling at and achieving his goals through his passion for his job. In the coming years, he is dedicated to continuing his work in the lab and furthering his knowledge and expertise in the field.
