Jon Michael Thompson, independent consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in consultancy.

With nearly five decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Thompson has established a successful career in consultancy, specializing in technology, engineering, and partner management. He currently excels as an independent consultant in business development, strategic global partnerships, and digital engineering and technologies, a position he has held since 2019. In this role, he coordinates calls, attends trade shows, assists partners with presentations, and provides continual support while liaising with their leadership. His experience includes consulting and partner management at DSA from 2019 to 2023, head of global partner alliances at Jama Software from 2021 to 2023, and global head of partner management at DRIVEN-4 from 2019 to 2021. He served as director of business development for SI alliances at Siemens from 2007 to 2021, and director of business consulting at UGS PLM Software, Siemens from 2005 to 2021. 

Additionally, Mr. Thompson held positions as senior director of global alliances at UGS PLM Software, Siemens from 2018 to 2021, and as director of business development for SI alliances, PLM at Siemens from 2007 to 2019. His earlier roles include director of business consulting at UGS PLM Software, North America from 2001 to 2005, director of business solutions consulting at UGS PLM Software from 1997 to 2001, and business solutions consultant at UGS PLM Software from 1996 to 1997. He also worked as a solution consultant at Computervision from 1993 to 1996 and held engineering management roles at Emerson Process Management from 1977 to 1995, as well as CAD manager at Emerson Electric Co. from 1977 to 1985. Additionally, he is a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Model-based Systems Engineering Organization.

Laying an educational foundation, Mr. Thompson earned an Associate of Arts in mechanical engineering from Eau Claire Technical College in 1977, completed credited courses in computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, and computer-aided engineering at the University of Wisconsin, and achieved Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Reflecting on his path, fresh out of high school, he attended technical college, spending two years on fundamental courses before specializing in mechanical engineering and metallurgy. After earning his associate degree, he quickly secured a position at Rosemount Engineering, where he advanced through the ranks and played a pivotal role in adopting computer-aided design technology, leading to a $4 million technology investment in 1980. 

Mr. Thompson takes great pride in his pivotal role in business development, with his presentations on cutting-edge technology in China, Korea, and Japan receiving widespread praise. He attributes his success to the incredible support from those around him, highlighting that positive relationships have been a driving force. Additionally, his father, an engineer himself, was a significant source of inspiration. Mr. Thompson’s ability to connect with others has been a cornerstone of his achievements. In the coming years, he is eager to extend his consulting expertise to help individuals and businesses achieve exponential growth. His primary goal is to broaden his network of contacts and stay updated with technological advancements.
