Richard K. Afanuh, senior solutions architect at AssureCare LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering and information technology (IT).
With over two and a half decades of experience, Mr. Afanuh has built a successful career in engineering and IT, specializing in platform integration, software development, solution architecture, business analysis, cloud-based platforms, data integration, IT healthcare, IT pharmacy, case and population health management, and EHR systems. He currently serves as a senior solutions architect at AssureCare, a role he has held since 2019. In this position, he oversees client integration architecture and technology, designs tailored solutions, and ensures seamless integration with the company’s platform. He identifies process gaps, improves service coverage, and collaborates with internal teams to implement sustainable architectures. He leads Azure migration, decomposes monolithic processes, and integrates health care platforms, including member portals and AI systems, with a focus on technology solutions rather than costs. His experience also includes serving as a software architect at Netsmart in 2019 and as a senior consultant technical architect for clinical systems in the hospital division at Kindred Hospitals, Knight Health Holdings, from 2016 to 2018.
Additionally, Mr. Afanuh served as program manager and senior architect at Tech M in Cincinnati in 2016, following various roles at AT&T, including senior technical architect from 2009 to 2016, technical architect from 2007 to 2009, senior technical staff member from 2003 to 2007, technical staff member and GUI team lead from 2000 to 2003, and developer at AT&T-NLCIO from 1997 to 1998. He dedicates his time to several organizations, including BSG International Business Honor Society, World Affairs Council, Global Cincinnati, Cornell Society of Engineers, and BDPA’s IT Camp Program for Urban Youth, where he serves as an IT instructor. Additionally, he volunteers as IT and web team lead for the International Center of Greater Cincinnati and serves on the IT project management advisory board at Cincinnati State. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award, Scholastic and Academic Achievement Awards from the International Business Honor Society and Xavier University, and the Torchbearer Award from NSBE.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Mr. Afanuh earned a degree in biomedical technology from Benin in 1993, a Bachelor of Science in computer science and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, both summa cum laude, from Central State University in 1997, a master of engineering in computer science from Cornell University in 2000, a Master of Business Administration in international business and business intelligence from Xavier University in 2008, and completed a health information technology program in IT program management at Cincinnati State in 2012. His certifications include Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified Scrum Master, and HIT Implementation Program Management. He attributes his success to his curiosity and joy for discovering new information, a personal ethic instilled by his father to always do things well and treat everyone equally, and an open mind.
