Reflecting on his path, Mr. Cockrum’s career in the cable TV industry began in 1983, when he started as an installer, quickly acquiring essential skills in climbing, ladder use, and customer interaction, marking the beginning of a long and successful career. Between his roles in cable TV and his current position, he expanded his experience by working in the construction and industrial sectors. His time as a hazardous waste site worker was particularly valuable, helping him develop qualifications for confined space operations, which contributed to his professional growth. He takes great pride in being a key designer of the initial fiber upgrade for the Indianapolis campus. He attributes his success to his extensive experience in cable television, construction, and the telecommunications industry. In the coming years, he aims to maximize the potential of their current technologies. He is collaborating with his boss on a project focused on identifying and repurposing existing cables, as well as removing unnecessary cables from the ground. He is also contemplating the possibility of building a personal brand within his industry and considering engaging in public speaking and conducting presentations to share his knowledge and expertise.
