Michael E. Denzin, MSEE, senior electrical engineer at Type One Energy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
With over three decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Denzin has established a successful career in engineering, specializing in embedded electronics, data acquisition, and radio frequency systems. He currently excels as a principal electrical engineer and electrical engineering manager at Leo Cancer Care, a position he has held since 2021, as well as the owner of Integral Electronics LLC since 2020. His responsibilities include developing the imaging electronics and firmware responsible for the data acquisition of a patient’s image and bundling it for reconstruction. He manages a team of engineers, ensuring they meet design requirements for reviews and new developments, while also creating all custom electronics for the machines and troubleshooting issues. His experience also includes roles as a senior electrical engineer at Trek Bicycle from 2020 to 2021, senior electrical engineer at bb7 from 2013 to 2020, senior electrical engineer at TouchPad Electronics from 2012 to 2013, senior electrical engineer at TomoTherapy from 2006 to 2012, electrical engineer at General Electric Healthcare from 2000 to 2006, and staff engineer at Motorola from 1992 to 1999.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Mr. Denzin earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on wireless communications and high-speed analog from National Technological University in 2006. He also holds a Six Sigma Green Belt from GE Medical Systems. Additionally, he has dedicated 11 years each as a leader in the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Management Award from General Electric and is a three-time patent holder.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Denzin developed an interest in electrical engineering relatively late in his education. After attending a two-year local university extension, he decided to pursue electrical engineering inspired by the physics and math courses he had taken. He transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and enrolled in the electrical and computer engineering program. He takes great pride in designing radio frequency circuits for first and second-generation cell phones, putting a million units of each design into people’s hands. Additionally, he developed electrical specifications for components in MRI signal synthesizers, ultimately leading to clearer images for radiologists and patients. He has also created entire products from initial concepts, including a lighted dog collar, a device that measures energy in magneto/spark plug discharges, and a complete imaging chain for a CT imaging system.
Mr. Denzin attributes his success to his eagerness to learn and his willingness to tackle problems without readily available solutions. He is driven to explore and implement reliable products that improve the lives of those who use them. Looking to the future, he aims to continue applying his skills to projects that benefit people and to mentor the next generation of engineers. He consistently seeks fresh challenges and expands his knowledge both within and beyond Leo Cancer Care. By channeling his expertise and strengths, he strives to assist others and make a meaningful impact. In advising aspiring professionals, he encourages them to find a great mentor in their field and to never hesitate to ask questions to facilitate learning.
