Amr El-Fayoumi, geomechanics advisor for deepwater assets at Chevron, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in oil and gas.

With two decades of experience to his credit, Mr. El-Fayoumi has established a successful career in oil and gas, specializing in injection operations and deepwater assets. He currently serves as the geomechanics advisor for deepwater assets at Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2023, and has been a geomechanics engineer with Chevron since 2012. His responsibilities include developing strategic approaches for the business unit from a geomechanical perspective, collaborating to optimize day-to-day operations, and ensuring the early integration of geomechanics into business strategies. His prior experience includes serving as a geomechanics engineer at Advantek International Corporation from 2004 to 2011. Additionally, he is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Rock Mechanics Association and volunteers with the Houston SPCA. In light of his impressive undertakings, he earned a Subsurface Excellence Award, Everyday Excellence at Chevron. Laying a strong educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Cairo University in 2004, and a Master of Science in petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2021. 

Reflecting on his path, Mr. El-Fayoumi is especially proud of his two patents currently pending. He also takes great pride in the development of a user-friendly tool that enables business units to determine safe injection pressure limits from a fracture containment perspective, which he then integrated into monitoring solutions. He attributes his success to his father, who instilled in him a commitment to continuous improvement and sparked his passion for precision, particularly with timepieces. This drive for excellence has been further shaped by his current mentor, who also serves as his closest confidant and guide. In the coming years, he aspires to expand his influence within Chevron and beyond as an advisor, aiming to contribute to unique technological advancements while also dedicating time to his growing family.
