Title: Principal Cybersecurity Architect
Company: Baxter International
Location: Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Skip Cruse, principal cybersecurity architect at Baxter International, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology.
Mr. Cruse has established a successful career in cybersecurity, currently excelling as president and founder of Security Shrimp Limited and principal cybersecurity architect at Baxter International, both since 2024. In these roles, he leads red teaming and adversary simulation initiatives, develops advanced offensive security tools, mentors penetration testing teams, and works to uncover vulnerabilities while strengthening organizational defenses. Additionally, he focuses on providing affordable cybersecurity solutions to nonprofits, which often have limited budgets and lack dedicated IT staff. By targeting this underserved space, he contrasts his approach with larger firms like CrowdStrike and Accenture, which offer services at a cost many nonprofits cannot afford. His goal is to deliver essential security protection at lower costs, ensuring these organizations can safeguard their operations effectively.
Mr. Cruse’s experience also includes serving as adversary simulation global lead at Baxter International from 2019 to 2024, offensive cybersecurity consultant at Digital Minion from 2017 to 2023, and Splunk and enterprise security global lead at Baxter from 2017 to 2019. His career includes positions as lead consulting Splunk architect at Fortress Information Security in 2017, Splunk architect at Time-Space Wizard from 2015 to 2017, and security engineer II at First Data Corporation in 2014, alongside senior roles at Akamai Technologies and Prolexic Technologies. Additionally, he worked as a Linux systems administrator, IT manager, and private consultant from 1998 to 2009.
Mr. Cruse has also contributed as a web developer for The Honesty Project since 2024, IT security mentor at Avenue Scholars Foundation since 2022, and social media coordinator for Morton Meadows Neighborhood Association since 2021. He is also engaged with several security-focused organizations, including Infragard since 2024, NebraskaCERT since 2023, Nebraska Grand Lodge since 2023, and NRSCCA since 2016. He attributes his success to his unique cognitive abilities, honing his autism and ADHD, which have enabled him swiftly grasping new technologies and mastering essential information. In just a year and a half, he progressed from being a novice to becoming one of the leading consultants in the field of Splunk. In the coming years, he aspires to assume a staff role, where he aspires continue his hands-on involvement in research, innovative problem-solving, and tool development.
