Dee J. Mackliet, supply chain squadron director with the United States Air Force, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in supply chain management.

With nearly four decades of experience, Mr. Mackliet has established a successful career in supply chain management. He currently serves as director of supply chain management squadron for the United States Air Force, a role he has held since 2010, having served with the Air Force since 1985. In this capacity, he oversees the procurement and maintenance of landing gear components for most of the Air Force’s aircraft. His responsibilities include purchasing, delivering, and stocking parts, distributing them to personnel, and collaborating with repair shops to ensure correct quantities are repaired and delivered efficiently. His experience also includes roles such as production manager at Hill Air Force Base and director of technical repair squadron for the Air Force. Additionally, he volunteers at his local church, demonstrating his commitment to community service. Laying a strong educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from Washington State University in 1985 and a Master of Business Administration in aerospace business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2010. 

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Mackliet began his career as an engineer specializing in landing gear, where he participated in process improvement projects. His interest in improving processes was shaped by a mentor who encouraged him to approach production challenges critically. Although transitioning into supply chain management was not his original plan, his supervisor recognized his potential and facilitated the move. Embracing the opportunity, he discovered his passion for the supply chain sector.  One of his most notable achievements occurred during his tenure as production chief for landing gear, where he successfully reduced lead times for critical components, such as cutting the C-5 lead time from 300 days to 96 days.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Mackliet has received numerous awards, including the Top Performer Award in 2008, the Exemplary Civilian Service Award Medal from the U.S. Air Force, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He attributes his success to maintaining a positive outlook and continuously striving for improvement. Looking to the future, he remains committed to addressing the challenges in supply chain management and aims to optimize supply lines and enhance the procurement process for landing gear parts, with the ultimate goal of providing superior support for landing gear systems.
