He currently serves as a staff software engineer at Stripe, a role he has held since 2024. Previously, he was co-founder and engineer at Nextdoor from 2010 to 2024, senior software engineer at Fanbase.com from 2008 to 2010, and software engineer at Google from 2005 to 2008, where he played a key role in establishing Google’s first engineering team in India. His earlier roles include software engineer at Open Harbor from 2003 to 2004 and lead software engineer at Homestead Technologies from 1999 to 2002. He laid a strong educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Stanford University in 1999. He also dedicates his time as a volunteer with Girls Inc. and the Rainier Valley Food Bank.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Mr. Wiesen co-founded Nextdoor, a neighborhood platform that connects users with local businesses, public agencies, and emergency services. The application has grown to serve more than 90% of U.S. neighborhoods and operates in 11 countries globally. He takes great pride in being part of the team that successfully took Nextdoor public with an IPO in November 2021. In addition, he was featured on The First 100 Podcast (Episode 97), where he discussed scaling Nextdoor through innovative strategies like direct mail and postcards, building network effects, and raising $735 million in capital. He attributes his success to his desire to create impactful solutions that benefit others. Looking to the future, he aspires to start another company and is interested in consulting or serving on advisory boards to share his knowledge and broaden his impact.
