For more than 30 years, Ms. Naqvi has established a trailblazing career in the field of information technology. Born in India, she immigrated to the United States in 1989 and began her professional life as a programmer analyst for State Farm Insurance in the early ’90s. Ms. Naqvi went on to take on such roles as software engineer at Joint Commission, programmer at Anixter, and senior systems analyst and programmer at Northwestern University. In 2012, she started a tenure with Raymond James Financial Inc. that lasted over 10 years, first as senior app developer and later as lead engineer and manager.
In 2024, Ms. Naqvi accepted the position of ERP senior developer at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Specializing in application development, supply chain management and human resources, she helps identify problems and create technology-based solutions that facilitate smoother work experiences for her colleagues. Additionally, Ms. Naqvi founded her own company, Baqiyat Business Solution, in 2024. Serving as Baqiyat’s owner, this entity allows her to offer consulting services and share her expertise with a wider range of clients.
Ms. Naqvi’s performance in her field was born of her academic journey. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Vanita College in India in 1988. After immigrating to the U.S., Ms. Naqvi earned a second bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from DeVry University in 1993. Committed to lifelong learning, she has achieved certification through Connectd’s LinkExec program, which connects entrepreneurs with investors, and is certified in mental health first aid from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Most recently, Ms. Naqvi completed coursework in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) through Innovatic in 2024.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Naqvi has maintained her professional affiliation with a number of pertinent organizations. She served as the vice president of membership for Toastmasters International for two years and maintains membership in the Worldwide Women’s Association. Since 2016, Ms. Naqvi has also offered guidance on the board of directors for Fourteen Stars Education Center, an organization devoted to educating communities on Islam.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Naqvi is a former Sunday school principal and has served on the boards for multiple mosques in the Chicago and Tampa Bay areas. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she prepared and delivered meals to the local elderly community, and she is a passionate advocate for improved senior care and assisted living facilities. Since 2016, Ms. Naqvi has worked with Imamia Medics International to volunteer annually at a clinic in Iraq, where she manages electronic medical records for the elderly.
Ms. Naqvi has offered her time and energy as a program manager for the Umoja Outreach Foundation, a nonprofit supporting Muslim communities through national soccer tournaments, and supports Al Sadiq International Virtual University. Al-Sadiq introduces innovative teaching methods and curricula to medical educators worldwide through webinars, workshops, and short courses. These initiatives promote the adoption of forward-thinking approaches to medical education and enhance global pedagogy. Additionally, Al-Sadiq actively encourages scholars to engage in research and contribute to academic publications.
In commemoration of her many accomplishments, Ms. Naqvi has received numerous prizes, including the Exceptional Employee Award and the Exceptional Team Member Award. She attributes her success to a strong sense of independence and self-reliance, the ability to learn quickly from her mistakes, and joy in helping others. Ms. Naqvi has demonstrated a tireless work ethic as a single mother, balancing her busy professional life with running her household and taking care of four children (one deceased). She also prides herself on her firm belief in the capabilities of women to handle jobs that have traditionally been exclusive to men. Ms. Naqvi prioritizes encouraging other women and setting an example for them with her own trajectory. Looking to the future, she has started to consider retirement, at which point she plans to focus on traveling, immersing herself in new cultures, and finding more opportunities to volunteer and help improve the world around her.
