Dr. Maldfeld, an esteemed professional of over 40 years, joined Siemens Energy as a rotor stress analysis engineer in 1996 in Mülheim, Germany. Today, he is a lead technical expert in engineering methods for Siemens Energy Products in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he has been excelling since 2016. Throughout his career with the oil and gas company, he has drawn significant success as an expert in his field, rising through the ranks in various management positions and overseeing manufacturing and other aspects of the business in Germany, Canada and now the U.S.
While in college, Dr. Maldfeld held tutorial and research assistant positions on his college campuses. He also worked as a product definer at Domscheit Elektrotechnik in Darmstadt, Germany. A graduate of the Technical University of Darmstadt, he received a degree in 1991. Subsequently, Dr. Maldfeld garnered a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University in 1998.
Dr. Maldfeld has conducted extensive research in his field, secured over 20 United States patents and authored several chapters in textbooks on gas turbines. Among his most notable accomplishments, he is working on the robust design method, which encompasses artificial intelligence (AI) learning methods for assessing new parts in the production area. Attributing much of his success to his discipline and consistency, Dr. Maldfeld is relentless in his work and always maintains a positive attitude. His goal in the coming years is to publish a book he is working on, which will discuss the role of humans in the future development of products, such as AI. He is also considering entering the quantum field and publishing alongside his wife, who is working toward her doctorate in quantum medicine.
