Mr. Barari is lauded for his extensive background in information technology, with a career spanning over 25 years. As a principal artificial intelligence (AI) architect at Microsoft in Burlington, Massachusetts, since 2016, he has worked closely with top strategic financial services and insurance customers as they leverage AI to maximize business impact. As such, Ms. Barari identifies challenges and designs tailored solutions using available AI services and tools to meet their business needs. One of his main projects currently focuses on developing large-scale document intelligence services that extract valuable information from various document types, such as Microsoft Word, PDF, videos and images, for business purposes.
Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Barari was an engineering manager at Sophos Ltd., managing a large team of architects responsible for deploying endpoint security solutions at scale. He was also a development team leader and principal member of the Verizon technical staff, where he contributed to developing a public cloud infrastructure to build a cloud provider comparable to Amazon or Microsoft. His focus was on the data and AI aspects of the project, and he was critical in designing the data model, ensuring scalability and managing data persistence. Mr. Barari’s foundational roles included positions at Nokia as a principal software engineer, at Bank of America Corporation as a security architect, and as a consultant, dating back to 1997.
Highly educated in preparation for his career, Mr. Barari received a Bachelor of Science in electronics and telecommunications engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology and a Master of Science in electrical engineering with a specialization in computer networks from the Indian Institute of Technology. Besides his educational achievements, he supports local community theater as an actor and director. Reflecting on all he has accomplished, Mr. Barari has received multiple internal awards from Microsoft. His expertise in AI in the cloud has been instrumental in his success, and he expresses deep gratitude to his family for being understanding of his extended work hours and busy work schedule. In the coming years, Mr. Barari intends to continue contributing to AI, leaving a legacy of impactful projects that he and his peers can be proud of.
