In this role, he manages a variety of responsibilities, including human resources tasks, bidding and estimating specifications, and sales and contract closures. His leadership has been instrumental in the company’s double-digit annual growth, operating from a 140,000-square-foot facility. Despite logistical challenges inherent to the business, Mr. Lukjan’s strategic oversight has positioned the company for potential expansion to a second location.
Before his present position, Mr. Lukjan was the sales team lead at Shape Manufacturing from 2018 to 2020. During this time, he honed his skills in managing sales teams and driving revenue growth. Mr. Lukjan initially joined the company as an industrial engineering consultant between 2014 and 2020, where he applied his engineering acumen to enhance production processes.
Mr. Lukjan’s career began with roles that laid a strong foundation for his future success. He worked as a temporary associate at DENSO in Kalamazoo, Michigan, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers of technology and components, in 2014. He then became a manufacturing engineer at Special-Lite Inc. in Decatur, Michigan, from 2015 to 2016, where he gained valuable experience in engineering and manufacturing processes. Special-Lite Inc. is recognized as the largest volume producer of fiberglass reinforced polyester doors in the U.S.
Mr. Lukjan’s background has been pivotal in shaping his professional journey. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial and entrepreneurial engineering from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in 2015 and a Master of Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu in 2018. These academic achievements provided Mr. Lukjan with the technical expertise and business acumen necessary for his roles in the industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Lukjan is an active member of industry-related organizations, including the Institute of Industrial Engineers, where he can remain at the forefront of his industry and network with like-minded individuals. He is also deeply committed to civic engagement and philanthropy. Mr. Lukjan has been involved with fundraising efforts for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity International and local women and children’s shelters. He is also active with the American Cancer Society. Moreover, Mr. Lukjan’s company also organizes an annual fundraising event to support various charitable causes, reflecting his dedication to giving back to the community.
While in college, Mr. Lukjan was recognized by the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity with the Otis Allen Glazebrook Award in 2013. He attributes much of his success since then to the support of his family and mentors who encouraged his curiosity and guided him throughout his education.
Notably, Mr. Lukjan is a fourth-generation family member who has dedicated his career to the ductwork sector, specializing in commercial duct systems. He and his team have no plans to diversify beyond this area of expertise, as it is both profitable and fulfilling. However, Mr. Lukjan does envision doubling the size of his business while maintaining a fulfilling personal life. He is also committed to enhancing employee well-being through improved wages, benefits, and overall health initiatives while contributing positively to his community.
